I wish every member of our team (athletes, parents, and coaches) could hear all of the thank you’s that have been shared with me today.
I heard over and over again. “Eastern hosts the best meets”. And many times, “You have the most amazing families in your program”.
Yes we do! I am so thankful for each of you that helped this weekend. Our officials appreciated our help at the field events. The Norton Staff appreciated our organization. The athletes and coaches appreciated our punctuality, our hospitality, and the professionalism of our event.
I (and our coaches) appreciate your time! So many of our veteran set the example and so many BRAND new families stepped in and were fantastic.
And on top of that after all of the disruption we have faced from the crazy wetlands our athletes finally got to compete.
Our team showed great depth and a great attitude. Many athletes competed in the Eastern Blue for the first time!
All of our results are here:
https://live.dcracetiming.com/meets/61163/teams/1456130First huge shoutout is to Senior Donavan Moore who WON the Shot Put with a huge toss of 58’3.25. That breaks his own school record. He also defeated the defending state champion and earned a top 50 national ranking.
Another big celebration is a school record from senior Emerson Lilly in the 2 mile becoming the first Eastern girl to break 12:00 indoors, running 11:58.71.
Freshman Mason Ellis was 3rd in the freshman mile, hitting a mark of 4:39.09 which qualified him for the Freshman Mile Race at Nike Indoor Nationals.
I also want to give a shout out to Relays and Relay alternates! Many of our relays ran marks that will put them in contention for qualifying for indoor state. Relays are at the core of any successful track team. And alternates are an important part of a relay. Thanks for being ready!
Great day to be an Eagle. I know there were many more highlights!
If there was anything from the meet today that you think will help us improve don’t be afraid to reach out,
